A few years ago there wasn't enough intrest to release an IDN version of .FR but this year this will change. Afnic the ccTLD operator will launch IDN versions for 6 different ccTLD's all at once. The ccTLD's in question .fr, .re, .tf, .wf, .pm, and .yt. For those who are kept any eye on things know that IDN sales are increasing price wise. The amount of registrations are getting higher. The aftermarket of .FR domain names are breaking records this year already and i guess we've ain't seen nothing yet and lots higher sales willbe published later this year. So the future looks bright for Afnic the ccTLD operator for the above mentioned domain names. The game plan so far : The opening schedule is as follows (the exact times will be announced later): 3 February 2012: Publication of the specifications for registrars. 3 May 2012: Launch of the IDN sunrise period with the "Grandfathering" rule. 3 July 2012: Opening with IDN attribution according to the "first come, first served" rule.
