So 3M registers 3mrestaurants. com domain name. Guess you can order postIT meals there ?

So far it's been a pretty busy week. SOPA and PIPA been scrapped for now. ACTA is on it's way and i guess it is business as usual.
    Anyways.

I noticed 3M registered 3mrestaurants.com and 3mrapidsample.com and it really makes you wonder why these are registered. Defensive ? Couldbe but still weird why. I don't see Ford register fordrestaurants or fordexcellentburgers.com.

I understand that companies are worried about the new gTLD's and that they expect a flood of typosquatting on their brands.
But if you go registering every bloody name in the world, then there is no Trademark Clearinghouse in the world to prevent such actions.
I couldbe mistaken and 3M is making the move to the restaurants, but ask yourself, does that that make any sense ?

Microsoft seems to have a more clear strategy in defensive domain name registrations. Let's have a look what they registered lately.

Now these make perfect sense. Microsoft is making moves with their "azure" platform so hey that makes sense.
And just when you thought MS made sense for once, you look at the list of the domains recently acquired domain names.

Most of the registrations make sense. And i use the word registrations since i believe MS registered these a long time ago but only recently got discovered when the WHOIS guard got dropped.
Domain name registrations like itshumpday.com does not make much sense at all. Unless friday after office hours it is called hump day ;)

Enjoy the video wich is pretty cool imo ;)
